Alabama Youth Ballet – A Midsummer’s Night Dream
Shakespeare's magical forest comes alive at Lowe Mill when Alabama Youth Ballet Theatre presents selections from *A Midsummer Night's Dream*. This debut performance brings together the enchantment of classical ballet with one of the Bard's most beloved tales of fairies, lovers, and comic mishaps. Young dancers will transport audiences into the moonlit world where Puck works his mischief and fairy magic reigns, all set against the creative, industrial-chic atmosphere that makes Lowe Mill a perfect backdrop for this whimsical story. The performance takes place Saturday, May 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the First Floor Connector at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, and admission is completely free. This is a historic moment for Huntsville theater — it's the first time this particular Shakespeare classic has been staged in the city through dance. The informal venue means families can enjoy professional-quality ballet in a relaxed, accessible setting where the artistic energy of Lowe Mill adds to the experience. With young performers ages 4-14 bringing the story to life, this production feels especially welcoming for families with elementary and middle school-aged children. Kids who love dance, fairy tales, or theater will be captivated, and the free admission makes it easy to introduce younger children to ballet without a big commitment. Since seating in the connector area can be informal, arriving a bit early to stake out a good viewing spot is a smart move.
