Huntsville Traditional Music Association Presents : The Allen Watkins Band
The Allen Watkins Band brings together three accomplished musicians who've spent years perfecting the art of acoustic storytelling through sound. Allen and Connie, dual vocalists and multi-instrumentalists, team up with bassist Bob Hall to create a rich tapestry of music that draws from bluegrass, folk, Celtic, blues, country, rock, and even classical traditions. Their performances feature intricate flat-picking guitar work, resonant banjo melodies, and the warm pulse of upright bass, all woven together with soulful three-part harmonies. What makes this trio special is their ability to make both original compositions and reimagined covers feel equally fresh and heartfelt. The concert takes place at the Huntsville Traditional Music Association's Studio 1038 inside Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment on May 2nd at 6:00 PM, and admission is completely free. The intimate studio setting allows families to experience acoustic music up close, where you can actually watch the musicians' fingers dance across strings and see the subtle exchanges that make live performance magical. Seating is typically first-come, first-served at these community concerts. This is a wonderful introduction to live acoustic music for children of any age who enjoy listening to real instruments played by skilled musicians. Younger kids who can sit through a 45-minute to hour-long performance will appreciate the variety of sounds and instruments, while older children and teens interested in learning guitar or banjo themselves can observe masterful technique. The friendly, casual atmosphere at Lowe Mill makes this the kind of concert where families can relax and simply enjoy good music together.
